There is something deeply special about an object that carries the marks of the hands that made it.
At Pink Namaste, the story behind a piece matters to us as much as the finished piece itself. We value the skills, traditions and time that go into making something by hand — and the people who keep those traditions alive.
A Pink Namaste blanket begins not with a machine, but with a piece of carved wood, natural colour, soft cotton and the steady hands of an artisan.
Each stage of its making is deliberate, allowing the craft to unfold slowly, layer by layer.
Carved by Hand
The process begins with artisans carving intricate patterns into wooden blocks, a skill passed down through generations.

Each block is carefully carved to create a specific motif, with the smallest details shaped by hand. These blocks become the foundation of the design, carrying with them a craft that has been refined and preserved over generations.
Printed Layer by Layer
The carved blocks are then dipped into colour and carefully pressed onto cotton fabric.

Each design is hand block printed, with every colour and motif applied separately. This requires precision, patience and care. The artisan must align each block with the previous impression, creating a continuous pattern across the fabric.
It is this human touch that gives hand block printing its character. Small variations in placement, pressure or colour are not imperfections — they are reminders that each piece has been made by hand.
Naturally Dyed
Natural plant-based dyes are used to create rich, earthy tones that soften beautifully over time.
Rather than feeling overly uniform or manufactured, these natural colours have a quiet depth to them. With use and time, they settle into the fabric, becoming softer and more lived-in.
The result is a palette that feels connected to nature — warm, grounded and timeless.
Quilted and Finished
Once the fabric has been printed, it is layered with soft cotton filling and hand-sewn quilting.
This final stage transforms the printed cotton into a blanket that is both comforting and durable. The quilting holds the layers together while adding texture, creating something designed not only to be beautiful, but to be used, touched and lived with.
Every stitch adds to its character.
Made One at a Time
Because every blanket is crafted by hand, no two are exactly alike.
There may be subtle variations in the print, the colour or the texture. These differences are part of what makes each piece unique. They tell the story of the process: the wooden block, the natural dye, the fabric and the hands that brought them together.
From a carved block to a finished blanket, every layer holds a little patience, skill and care.
Perhaps that is what makes a handmade blanket feel different.
It is not simply something to wrap yourself in, but something that carries a story of tradition, time and the hands that made it.
At Pink Namaste, choosing handmade is about valuing that story.
When you choose one of our blankets, you are choosing more than the finished piece. You are supporting the skills and livelihoods of the artisans who make it and helping traditional crafts continue to have a place in the world today.
In return, you receive something that could never be completely replicated by a machine — a piece with its own small variations, its own character and the trace of the hands that created it.
Made slowly. Made to be used. Made to be loved.
From their hands to yours.
